Transport with multiple transport modes in CAD

Hi all,

When calculating transportation emissions, we usually need to take into account different transport modes for the same transport stream. For instance, first transport to the harbor by truck and then shipment to Asia.

How to tackle this calculation in CAD without doing the calculation in Excel? Is there a way to automate this calculation for more efficiency?

Hi,

Unfortunatelly we don’t facilitate this multi-modal transport calculations in Carbon+Alt+Delete.

The options that you have are

  1. Split the transport into several lines (1 line = 1 mode)
  2. Take the dominant mode of the journey and apply that to the full journey (i.e., the shipping from Europe to Asia will most likely be the dominant mode)
  3. Look into multi-modal APIs - in case of very large volumes (see e.g. Freight Shipping & Transport Carbon Emissions | Carbon Footprint API | Climatiq)
