While electrical energy use is accounted for in our calculations, we do not know how to estimate the halocarbon gas emissions. Are there specific emission factors for this? Is this related to gas leaks or the refrigerant fluid?

Thanks for your question.
The solution is two-fold:
- Get the right leakage based on the coolant/refrigerant use/refills .Therefore I suggest to have a look at the EPAs’ guidance (see p. 8 for the simplified mass balance: https://www.epa.gov/sites/default/files/2020-12/documents/fugitiveemissions.pdf)
- For the right emission factors, I would go for the IPCC or UK.GOV (both are available in our app).
