For a fashion company we need to calculate the emission of the purchased goods per type of fabric (cotton, polyester, …).
What are the experiences / tips for best emission databases or LCA-studies to use for fabrics?
In Eco-invent there are partial factors for parts of the value chain, but some parts are missing and not available for all fabrics.
Hi,
Now, one year later, I would like to understand if there is more information on the best emission factors for the fashion industry?
What we will do for now, is adding up the different activity emission factors of Eco-invent: (1) raw material production, (2) yarn formation, (3) textile formation, etc.
My question is now: do the emission factors of Eco-invent include already all upstream emissions in the ealier steps of the production process? Or do we need to sum emission factors covering different steps of the fabric production process?
For example, in CAD this is said for emission factor “textile production, cotton, circular knitting’. Is this emission factoring covering the emissions already from the agricultural cotton field?
Many thanks for sharing your insights!
